So this week has just been... pretty awesome. Turned in my Portfolio for the Academy of Art University, and so I've been apprehensive of that all week. My show went up on Monday, so that's all done and finished and it turned out awesome!!! It's coming down tomorrow. MORE good news: I just found out today that I've been Accepted to the Academy for the MFA program in Illustration!!! Here is the review I was given:
The first thing about Eva's portfolio that stands out is the flair and finesse of her line drawings. Complimented with the watercolor, they show a sense of style and control. And though these are more 'fashion' type illustrations, they indicate an aptitude toward the more traditional art Eva wishes to pursue. The initial courses in the traditional track will help Eva hone the knowledge she has acquired prior to coming to the Academy. In FA 626 Chiaroscuro and FA 602 Head Drawing, Eva will learn the correct uses of light and shadow to describe depth or volume to the figure. In ILL 610 Clothed Figure Drawing or ILL 612 Sustained Figurative Drawing, she will refine her drawing of the figure and understand how to use clothing to enhance the depiction of the figure. I feel her figure drawing as indicated in her portfolio is good, but lacks a working comprehension of anatomy and how the body moves. Her emphasis seems to be on attitude or gesture, leaving proportions, value and color as aspects to focus on in the first two semesters of study.
Pretty exciting stuff. NOT to mention that I graduate tomorrow!! I'll be done with one thing and start another! PLUS I'll be starting my internship with Ms. Padilla on her Fashion Sketching workshop starting June 4! AND I'm going on a trip to New Mexico on the 14th! Awesome stuff is headed my way!!!
